BEING AN INTROVERT IN AN EXTROVERTED WORLD - UNDER THE SURFACE #2

Being an introvert in an extroverted world isn't always the most easy thing ever, therefore I would like to talk a bit about being an introvert in this blogpost. This is number #2 in the series Under The Surface, I wasn't sure if it should be in the series, but I decided that it should. I'm an introvert myself, and therefore I feel like this is an important topic for me to talk about, since many introverts may feel like they're the only ones feeling like this, and I've felt that way as well. But I just want to make sure that you know you're not alone. This is definitely  a topic that isn't talked enough about! Actually people like Albert Einstein, Steve Martin, JK Rowling, Larry Page & Steven Spielberg, were introverts too. Weird, boring people? Not at all. But actually very influential. So don't ever let you being an introvert stop you from anything, you just have to find the right way to do the things you would like to do. Do things your own way.

But what does being an introvert mean? Keep in mind that it's different from person to person again, but this is just some examples;
  • Lets say you have an inner battery, and sometimes you need to charge your battery. Some people get drained by not being around other people, that's extroverts. Therefore they get charged by being around people. Then there's people (like me) who gets drained by being around people. Introverts charge their batteries up, by being alone. Some people are also in between being an extrovert and introvert. And what ever you are, it's normal, and it's different from person to person, because luckily we're all different!
  • You often don't care about being the center of attention.
  • You're analytical and like to think before you speak.
  • You're not that into small talks.
  • You'd rather be with one or two good friends, than in a crowd of people.
  • You're a thinker and you need your own personal space.

Maybe people will tell you that you need to go out and socialize, but for introverts that can be extremely draining, so please let the persons around you know how you feel, and let them know that you need time by yourself. That's what i did, and it helped a lot, people are very understanding, and they understand that i need to go to my room sometimes, or that i have to say no sometimes. Remember that it's okay to say no sometimes, to take care of yourself. But don't forget to say yes sometimes as well, so you don't lock yourself away from the world.
Sometimes you're lucky and find some persons that aren't "draining", and then you're very lucky. I have a few people that I don't find draining. I know it sounds quite rude to call people draining, but that's simply how introverts feel, it's not your or the introverted personens fault(!)
I really want introverts to be seen, and I hope that everybody will respekt both if you're an introvert or an extrovert, or even both. Please respect other peoples boundaries, and choices.

See you soon.
Love you <3
xx Thea
